Today, the solvent-based ink manufacturer Moerjia New Materials will talk to you about the characteristics of solvent-based inks

1. The binder for solvent-based inks is a mixture of resin additives and solvents. According to different toners, solvent-based inks are divided into dye inks and pigment inks.Dye inks mainly include basic dye inks and lightfast dye inks.

2. The main components of basic dye inks are: basic dyes, mordants and (or) resin adhesives, solvents, and waxes. Its characteristics

It has high color strength, brightness and low price. The disadvantage is that it has poor water resistance and is easy to fade. It is usually only used for paper printing, printing paper bags, wrapping paper, waxed bread paper, candy paper, etc. Films are not suitable for printing because the dyes tend to penetrate into the film.

The main components of lightfast dye inks are: lightfast dyes, adhesives, solvents, plasticizers, waxes.

3. Its characteristic is that water resistance and light resistance are higher than that of basic dye ink, and its strength and brightness are slightly lower than that of basic dye ink, and it has excellent transparency. Suitable for printing on paper and various metal foils. If some titanium dioxide pigments are added to dye inks to become translucent pigments, they can be used for tissue printing, and the ink can become very transparent after waxing, and special color effects can be produced by mixing other pigments and pigments.

4, the fundamental difference between pigment ink and dye ink is that the dye can be dissolved in the ink binder used, and the pigment must be diffused in the binder by means of grinding equipment.

The main components of pigment inks are: pigments, adhesives, plasticizers, solvents and waxes. Pigment inks can be divided into paper pigment inks, polyolefin film inks, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) film inks, polyester film inks, nylon film inks, and aluminum foil printing inks according to the selected resin and solvent.

5. The choice of solvent is an important part of the production of flexographic printing ink. After the printing plate and rubber sheet are selected, a solvent that is not corrosive to the printing plate and rubber roller material should be selected as the solvent; if the ink is dried by solvent To finish by volatilization, the drying speed of the solvent should be appropriate and compatible with the speed of the printer; when the substrate material is a non-absorbent material. During the drying process of the printer, the solvent should be completely volatilized; the ink should not smell after drying; the final ink film must be non-toxic; the ink should have good storage stability.

Usually the solvent can choose those low-carbon alcohols, such as ethanol, n-propanol, isopropanol; these alcohols are usually mixed with a small amount of glycol ether, alkane, ketone or ester to achieve a better resin Solubility; suitable drying and viscosity.
