Water-based ink is commonly known as water-based ink, and flexographic water-based ink is also known as liquid ink. It is mainly produced and processed by compound grinding of water-soluble resin, organic pigment, solvent and related auxiliaries. Water-based inks are mainly water-based printing inks made of water-based polymer emulsions, organic pigments, resins, surfactants and related additives through organic chemical operations and physical mixing. 30% to 70% of harmful organic solutions, so that there will be no more volatile organic solutions in the ink.

Inks are mainly divided into 4 categories according to the version:

1. Letterpress ink: This type of ink is used for printing books, newspapers, publicity albums, bills, account books, etc. The main feature of letterpress printing is that the ink-dipping part of the printing plate protrudes from the non-inking part. Letterpress inks are divided into lead printing inks, copperplate inks, letterpress rotary inks, and flexographic letterpress inks according to the type of printing equipment and the use of printed products.

2. Lithographic ink: This type of ink is mainly used for lithographic printing. Most of the parts of the lithographic printing plate are on one plane, the pattern is lipophilic, and the non-pattern is hydrophilic. The basic principle of mutual repulsion between water and oil is used for printing, so the lithographic ink must have waterproof properties. According to the processing technology, it is divided into offset printing ink, web offset printing ink, flat offset printing ink, anhydrous offset printing ink, iron printing ink, lithographic ink, and Keban ink.

3. Gravure ink: This type of ink can be used for gravure printing. When printing, ink is applied to the pattern part of the plate, and the ink on the non-pattern part is wiped off or scraped, and then the printing is carried out. There are engraving gravure inks and photographic gravure inks.

4. Mesh plate ink: This type of ink is printed on the surface of the printing plate according to the mesh leakage of the printing plate. Mesh printing ink is further divided into transcription ink and screen printing ink.
